Plymouth has offered a Master"s programme in International Shipping since 1978, earning a global reputation in industry for providing graduates of the highest calibre. The MSc in International Logistics was introduced in 1991 and the MSc in Port Management in 2001.

These one-year Master"s programmes are joint for the first phase (September to December), after which you specialise in international shipping, international logistics or port management. You then prepare a dissertation based on a specific topic connected with your chosen specialism. These programmes allow you to develop an understanding of international shipping, international logistics or port management in the areas of finance; business modelling; research skills; economics; management; organisation; and marketing. They further provide you with the skills and opportunities to design, develop, implement and present a research project at postgraduate level.

The MSc in International Shipping programme is industry-focused. We investigate the commercial aspects of shipping, logistics and ports. It emphasises corporate decision-making whilst encouraging practical hands-on research and application. We aim to equip you with the skills required for work in industry, academia or agency work.
