  • Objectives This one-year course is designed for those interested in entering, or currently working in, the international oil and gas industries. It gives the opportunity to develop vital expertise, skills and knowledge across the fields of process engineering and environmental protection that are key to these industries. This Master of Research programme combines a year-long guided research project with related taught modules. The taught modules assist the research project and will broaden your knowledge and expertise in the key areas of process, treatment and production methods employed within the petroleum industry.

    Course Content
    The MRes in Petroleum and Environmental Process Engineering combines key research training with taught modules related to the subject area. In addition, it offers you the opportunity to complete a dissertation / research project on a subject of your choice – this is an extensive piece of independent research completed under the guidance of a suitable supervisor.

    Many of the projects undertaken on this course attract industrial sponsorship and reflect the requirements of industry.

    Course Structure
    The MRes in Petroleum and Environmental Process Engineering is taken on a full-time basis over one year, commencing in October.

    You will need to complete a total of 180 credits to pass the course – 120 credits’ worth of taught modules and a 60-credit dissertation.

    The course utilises an integrated educational approach in which lectures, example classes, laboratories and information technology form key elements.
