MSc Neuroimaging for Research (e-Learning)

  • Entry requirements Entry Requirements Applications are welcome from graduates and professionals in the fields of neuroscience, physiology, pharmacology, informatics, psychology, physics or a relevant related subject. Students with a radiography qualification or a medical degree are also welcome to apply.
  • Academic title MSc Neuroimaging for Research
  • Course description Are you using neuroimaging as a neuroscientist, psychologist, physicist, computer scientist, linguist, radiographer, neurologist, neurosurgeon, or radiologist?

Do you want to expand and improve your knowledge and skills necessary for understanding studies which use neuroimaging techniques? Do you design, set up and analyse experimental neuroimaging projects?

Do you need a flexible learning approach to fit around your other commitments?

Then Neuroimaging for Research is the Programme for you!

    The Programme:

        * Presents information on the physics of key imaging techniques.
        * Describes various image processing methods and common approaches such as lesion size measurement.
        * Discusses practical neuroimaging aspects and key health & safety issues.
        * Gives a broad overview of how neuroimaging techniques have helped advance the understanding and treatment of brain disorders.
        * Discusses key points of relevance between experimental model imaging and human imaging.

    Our Programme is unique!

It allows for flexible learning because it is delivered part-time and entirely on line so that you can learn anywhere, anytime.

A professional team of neuroimaging experts and elearning technologists are there to support your progress through a mix of online tuition, multimedia interactive learning materials, peer-to-peer discussion and independent study.

We not only provide a cutting edge theoretical grounding in neuroimaging but also allow you to apply your knowledge via a bespoke imaging library and questionnaire tool developed by the Division of Clinical Neurosciences team, which provides a multitude of real life examples of images with patient data.

All you require is a commitment of around 15-20 hours per week and appropriate access to a networked computer.

The use of neuroimaging techniques is rapidly increasing in many branches of research across a wide range of disciplines. They range from neuroscience to computer science, physics, psychology, linguistics, neurology, neuroradiology and many other areas. In many of these disciplines there is little primary teaching in how human brain structure, function or appearance are displayed on various imaging techniques. This Certificate programme looks at addressing these areas.

    Learning Outcomes

This programme equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary for understanding studies using neuroimaging techniques as well as designing, setting up and analysing their own experimental data.

    How You Will Be Taught

This programme is delivered entirely online using a combination of online tuition, peer-to-peer discussion and independent study over one year part-time
