ObjectivesThis programme aims to enhance the healthcare professionals' skills and knowledge in the management of long-term conditions in primary and secondary care. The focus isl be on the development of practice at both an individual and organisational level. The biopsychosocial factors of chronic diseases will be explored and the evidence basis for specific interventions are addressed in some detail. Students are given the opportunity to consider methodologies and research strategies appropriate to this area and to complete an empirical study.

Course descriptionThis programme is designed to meet the needs of health professionals in a variety of practice situations and to enable them to enhance and develop their practice through further study.
The programme is structured into three separate branches - Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma and Masters. Students may, if they wish, withdraw on completion of each stage with the relevant qualification.

* The final stage of the programme is a research project in the student's area of interest. Students are allocated a research supervisor from the outset of the programme who facilitates project development to completion.
Teaching and Assessment
Teaching uses a range of methods ranging from formal learning and small group work to open and electronic learning.
Assessment is by both coursework and the compilation of a practice based portfolio.
