  • Objectives The MSc in Management and Marketing provides future managers with a solid grounding in the operation of key functional areas of Business and the way that these areas are integrated in globally orientated organisations. The Marketing route has been designed to provide you with an understanding of marketing principles and practices and key analytical techniques. You will be equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to develop and implement innovative, value-adding marketing solutions to help maintain superior customer satisfaction.
    We have recently introduced a new framework for our full-time Masters programme, covering some significant and exciting developments that have come about through consultation with our students, staff and alumni.*
    The new framework will facilitate greater engagement with external businesses and organisations, leading to an enhanced student learning experience.

  • Entry requirements Entry requirementsApplicants should have first degree at level UK 2.2 with honours, or equivalent.English language requirementsApplicants whose first language is not English will need to provide evidence of English language proficiency to the level of IELTS 6.5 (minimum 6 in writing) / TOEFL 560 (220).
  • Course description This course will provide you with an understanding of fundamental marketing theories and key analytical techniques. You will develop the ability to create innovative marketing solutions and the critical thought processes required to challenge existing marketing frameworks and approaches.

    Study methods
    A variety of teaching and learning methods are employed, including lectures, seminars, case studies, discussions, business simulations and group activities. As part of the course, careers advisers will run a series of workshops, where you can identify methods and strategies to enable you to effectively pursue your career goals.

    Induction
    We provide a comprehensive induction phase, which involves looking at the resources and talents that exist within groups, the characteristics of group members, their decision making styles and their effectiveness. This is conducted via individual, group, in-house and outdoor activities, which include a mandatory residential course. This is an important part of the course and must be completed before module teaching starts.

    Assessment
    Varied methods are used throughout the course, including presentations, group-work, management reports, and examinations.

    The ‘real-world’ consultancy project, carried out in collaboration with local organisations, continues to be a key factor in the success of our courses and one on which we are keen to build. The new framework, in which the consultancy experience forms the basis of a 40-credit project, has preserved and extended this opportunity to provide you with work-based experience that is of genuine value to your future career.

    The Network Company
    Groups of students gain direct consultancy experience through interaction with a Network Company where they are assigned a managerial mentor and complete a consultancy project. This is an opportunity that will be highly valued by potential employers and is particularly valuable to participants with little or no managerial exposure, as well as those wanting to build on their existing experience. Students will also be required to reflect upon their personal development and contribution to the team effort.

    Career development

    As part of the course, careers advisers will run a series of workshops, where students can identify methods and strategies to enable them to effectively pursue their career goals. The focus will be on developing your skills and occupational awareness, and workshops will focus on both home and international students.

    In-sessional English language support
    For those students whose first language is not English, the Business School provides in-sessional support for academic writing specific to the requirements of the course.
