Objectives-Produce reflective practitioners able to conduct and communicate legal analysis with confidence and accuracy in relation to any aspect of mainstream professional construction practice; -Examine construction practice from a legal perspective, to include detailed consideration of construction contracts, tortious and multi-party liability, insurance, dispute resolution, procurement, and the environment; -Assist individuals in taking effective roles in specialist Construction Law Departments or firms; -Promote high quality research in areas of law relating to construction, including a high level of legal analysis. -This programme is studied part-time by distance learning, with support and interaction through our virtual learning environment and assessment by coursework. The course may be completed from anywhere in the world, without any UK attendance. The course will enable construction and surveying professionals, as well as lawyers, to provide more effective expertise in Construction Law and related areas.
Entry requirementsEntry Requirements The course is designed to provide Masters Degree qualifications for applications from as wide a field as possible. There are two programmes leading to either MSc or LLM. MSc award Applications will normally be accepted from candidates who have: A minimum of a second class undergraduate honours degree in a cognate discipline; or A minimum of a second class undergraduate honours degree in a non cognate discipline and significant relevant work experience; or A recognised appropriate professional qualification. LLM award Applications will normally be accepted from candidates who have: A minimum of a second class undergraduate qualifying law degree; or A recognised appropriate professional legal qualification; Students with alternative relevant experience and/or qualifications may also apply to either programme and will be assessed for entry through the University’s assessment of experience route. Candidates whose first language is not English, must also satisfy the University’s English Language requirements.

Delivery & Attendance
This e-based learning programme is studied for up to 2 years part-time. It features a strong practical focus and is delivered by an internet based virtual learning environment backed up by interactive tutor support. Students are able to download course materials, interact with other students, submit coursework and check assessment results - all over the internet.
Programme Structure & Assessment
The full Masters programme consists of 4 taught modules, (3 core modules and 1 elective module) and either a dissertation or practice related project modules. All modules are assessed through coursework or projects.

These modules allow students to integrate their study in previous modules and focus on resolving a problem in Construction Law drawn from workplace experience.

The course duration is normally part-time over two years, however this may be adjusted to suit particular needs.
