Course descriptionYou will explore the needs of children with speech, language and communication
difficulties from a range of perspectives, and examine how teachers and speech and
language therapists can work together within inclusive classroom and institutional
contexts. By grounding the modules in both an academic base of special and inclusive
education and language and communication studies, we will provide you with
knowledge and skills to meet the needs of these children.
Part-time students have up to four years to complete their studies. Delivery is through a
mixture of contact teaching and distance learning, supported by web-based materials.
Collaborative planning has ensured that all participants will take a combination of
modules led by City or Institute staff.

You will also choose two optional modules. Recommended
modules include Clinical Management, Developmental Language
Impairment, Research Design and Statistics, Reading and Spelling
Difficulties, Understanding Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia), and
Assessing Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia).
