ObjectivesThe degree aims to equip students with intellectual skills to analyse contemporary international affairs from a theoretically informed perspective with a particular focus on their ethical dimensions. Students will: * identify and analyse the normative issuesarising in the sphere of global social, economic, political and security relations; * understand how to apply, and when to amend, existing resources of political theory to political issues beyond the horizon of the nation-state; * evaluate policy in international affairs from the standpoint of normative principle; * examine normative standards exemplified by existing international institutions; * formulate research questions and plan, execute and present their findings.

* understand how concepts of justice, rights and democracy apply in international and global contexts;

* apply analytical, critical and philosophical methods to the study of empirical problems in the field of international politics;
* discuss constructively, and to propose, appropriate policy responses to specific problems in the international sphere.
