Entry requirementsEntry requirements Applicants would normally be expected to hold an upper-second honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject area. In addition, for those whose first language is not English, a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 is required, with no less than 6 in each subskill.

This unique programme is about inter-professional teamwork and collaboration between professionals in order to create a richer learning experience in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Current and aspiring educators and science communicators will learn about the different contexts in which science communication and education take place. They will acquire communication techniques which will allow them to contribute effectively and confidently to science communication and education, and thus take full advantage of the opportunities in this area. The programme constitutes a route into a range of science communication careers as well as further study and research.
The programme is hosted by the Centre for Research in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Education in the Faculty of Education.

The programme involves the completion of a dissertation or portfolio of practice in either science education or communication.
Optional courses
Students of the MSc and PgDip select two additional courses; PgCert students select one. These may be chosen from the courses offered by the Faculty of Education. Alternatively, as appropriate, they may choose to study courses in their specialist subject area offered by the Faculties of Science. Optional courses are subject to change.
