Entry requirementsEntry Requirements Applicants are welcome from holders of a good honours degree (2:2 or above). They will also be expected to have considerable computing experience. Other backgrounds will be considered. International students must demonstrate a good command of the English language and normally would have to undertake an IELTS examination. Students who do not possess the necessary English language grade will be required to gain further English language tuition prior to starting the programme.

Course descriptionThis MSc/PGD/PGC programme is designed to to provide the necessary educational foundation for positions in information systems security in the twenty-first century. It is intended to qualify the graduates of the course for positions in information systems security that will allow them to gain the practical experience required for the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) certifications that security analyst/engineers responsible for designing and maintaining secure systems are expected to earn.
The programme has a strong technical content, incorporating a number of software and security engineering modules. In addition the areas of professionalism, ethics and project management are included. You will undertake a project normally sponsored by a real world client in which you will be developing a product that has a real world benefit to the client. Note that the majority of the project phase can be undertaken anywhere in the world where adequate communication facilities are available.
A generic award of a Postgraduate Certificate in Computing is available for those students who gain a minimum of 60 M-level credits from any of the taught modules within this programme (excluding the project).
