MSc Biomedical Engineering

  • Objectives This programme in Biomedical Engineering enables students to develop expertise in a new and expanding area. The course places particular emphasis on: systems analysis and mathematical modelling for application to processes in biomedicine; compartmental modelling in physiology and medicine; physical principles in medicine; properties and design of the materials employed in medical applications; signal processing and data analysis techniques for physiological data.
  • Entry requirements Normally, you should have obtained at least a second class honours degree in a suitable branch of Engineering, or the equivalent in a Science/Engineering degree plus suitable experience. Overseas applicants should have IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL.

    The Warwick Engineering MSc programmes are one-year, research-led specialised courses suitable as preparation for a technical career in industry or for progression to a research degree.

    The aims of the Biomedical Engineering degree are: to impart state-of-the art knowledge and understanding of Biomedical Engineering at postgraduate level; to deliver advanced modules informed by the active research expertise of the academic staff; to prepare students for careers in advanced technology; to provide a study environment that fosters stimulation and permits students to advance their knowledge and skills.

    This programme in Biomedical Engineering enables students to develop expertise in a new and expanding area. The course places particular emphasis on: systems analysis and mathematical modelling for application to processes in biomedicine; compartmental modelling in physiology and medicine; physical principles in medicine; properties and design of the materials employed in medical applications; signal processing and data analysis techniques for physiological data.

    The course is made up of 5 core modules, one optional module and a project. The project is a piece of original research or innovative design giving excellent preparation for industrial or clinical R+D, or a PhD. It is normally a team or an individual project undertaken over a fifteen week period.
