MSc: 12 months full-time; 24 months part-time
This programme offers training in the key macroeconomic and microeconomic issues fundamental to financial decision-making. The programme draws on the most recent developments in each of the subject areas, gives you a strong foundation for PhD research and provides you with the toolkit to gain employment in a wide range of spheres.
Graduates from this programme gain employment in financial institutions, including banks, investment banks and asset management firms and government organisations involved in financial decision-making. This programme also offers a suitable grounding for working in international organisations such as the International Monetary Fund and World Bank and for those wishing to work in the academic sector. In particular graduates from this degree are suitable for working in international organisations involved in financial transactions and provision of finance.
Content
You will take four core courses
* Macroeconomics
* Microeconomics
* Basic econometrics (or Advanced econometrics, subject to the approval of the programme director)
* Economics of finance.
Plus two options and a dissertation. The list of options includes
* IMF, World Bank and economic growth
* Financial institutions and markets in developing countries
* Advanced econometrics (if not taken as core)
* International finance and money
* Money, finance and growth
* Other MSc options subject to approval.
