    This programme gives expert access to the dramatic texts, ideas and theoretical experiments that have shaped European theatre, in a way that will be fruitful for theatre practitioners as well as those with cultural, literary or theoretical interests.

    Learning Outcomes

    Students will:

        * study a representative selection of theatre texts that have profoundly influenced the development of European theatre;
        * acquire an overview of the most significant theories and practical developments in European theatre since the early modern period;
        * gain an understanding of national theatres in their international context;
        * develop their research, presentation, and writing skills.

    How You Will Be Taught

    The programme combines seminar and tutorial work with essays and longer research projects, and practical research training. You will be encouraged to attend and discuss performances of European theatre in central Scotland.
