ObjectivesGraduates will gain: -An understanding of environmental problems -An awareness of industrial and political development in Europe and worldwide, in respects to environmental questions, and the ability to influence such developments through their work -An in-depth knowledge of environmental technologies and associated management techniques -Experience of living and working in different cultures in Europe.
Entry requirementsPeople with a first degree in an appropriate subject such as chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental sciences, biotechnology, biology etc. Engineering graduates with a strong science background can also be considered. Prospective students who are uncertain as to whether they meet these criteria should consult one of the programme co-ordinators.

Course descriptionProgramme
The programme comprises ten taught modules and a final project that is equivalent to a double module. Some of the modules are taught entirely in one of the three centres whilst others are spread across all three. Students can expect to study from the following modules:

-Energy
-Raw Material and Waste
Leicester:
-Environmental Field:
At all three centres:
-Environmental Protection and Law in the Different Countries of Europe
-Environmental Techniques and Management in Industry
-Technology, Economy, Environment and Man
Research Methods.
The final project applies the skills and knowledge that students have gained
during the programme to a practical or literature-based project, which is normally undertaken in Leicester. Where appropriate the project may be carried out elsewhere; either in industry or at one of the other participating institutions.
Teaching/assessment
Some modules are assessed by a mixture of coursework assignments and a final exam whilst others are assessed entirely by coursework. The final project is assessed on the dissertation and a presentation.
Career opportunities
Recent graduates have taken up positions as environmental scientists or environmental engineers within a wide range of companies. Others have joined PhD programmes both in the UK and in a range of other countries. The portfolio of skill that the course provides opens up wide-ranging employment opportunities, especially in enterprises that span more than one European country.
