ObjectivesThe programme provides you with the key scientific and technical principles underlying environmental technology, a critical awareness of relevant current debates and contemporary policy and practices in environmental technology.The research and analytical skills offered include GIS, remote sensing, environmental modelling and programming, group and independent study skills and an optional work placement.

Course description Environmental technology is a major area of economic and policy relevance in the UK and internationally.This interdisciplinary programme is based in the Department of Geography and supported by the Departments of Engineering, Biology and Chemistry.
This qualification is suitable for a career in renewable energy, environmental management, waste management, environmental consultancy, with government agencies, or as preparation for a PhD. This MSc commences in September and is available for part-time study.

ASSESSMENT
Assessment methods include essays, exams, group projects, presentations and a project dissertation at the MSc stage.
SPECIAL FEATURES
The Geography Department was ranked as level 5 in the 2001 RAE and achieved excellent ratings in the 2005 and 2006 National Student Surveys.
The department contains a wide range of wellequipped teaching and research facilities including lecture theatres, seminar rooms, laboratories, networked computer areas and a newly refurbished GIS laboratory.
We have strong links with local industry and government, so work-based modules and industrybased dissertations, or both, are possible.The programme is also supplemented by visiting speakers and trips to industrial sites.
