Course descriptionThis multi-disciplinary programme explores the complexity of interactions between environmental management system implementation and resource use in the private and public sectors with the emphasis on decision making for a sustainable future. You will be equipped to interpret data via systems such as GIS, prepare management plans and offer environmental advice. The programme incorporates work-based training/development.
To ensure the relevance of our approach we maintain strong links with industry, local authorities and regulatory agencies through professional environment, health and safety consultancy activities and staff research, as well as through the Work Experience Placement module which is central to the vocational nature of the programme.
Contact Time:
The course is typically 1 year full-time or 2 to 3 years part-time from 9am - 5pm for five days full-time study (a block week) for each taught module. A total of eight block weeks are undertaken throughout the programme.

Stage 2
Postgraduate Diploma (PgD) 60 credits

Stage 3
Masters (MSc) 60 credits

Teaching and Assessment
Teaching is partly through distance learning packages, and partly through week-long teaching blocks comprising seminars, tutorials, visits, laboratory and group work.
You will attend a total of eight block weeks throughout the whole programme. Assessment is mainly through course work and examination.
Work Experience
If you are a part-time student employed in an area relevant to the programme, this normally takes place in your own workplace and is typically eight weeks in total. Alternatively, we can arrange placements with a wide range of organisations.
