ObjectivesDesigned in collaboration with industry professionals this course focuses on the economic analysis of financial issues, financial products and international financial markets. This course concentrates on the economic analysis of contemporary issues in the economic and financial environment such as corporate governance, investment and financing decisions, international trade and investment flows.
During the programme you will be able to select specialist modules from a wide range of options in the fields of finance and economics. Students have the opportunity to do an in-company consultancy project and apply for and complete a three-month internship in a relevant company.
We have recently introduced a new framework for our full-time Masters programme, covering some significant and exciting developments that have come about through consultation with our students, staff and alumni.* The new framework will facilitate greater engagement with external businesses and organisations, leading to an enhanced student learning experience.

Entry requirementsEntry requirementsApplicants should be competent in using the English language, have good literacy and numeracy skills, and be interested in a career in economic or financial analysis. Applicants for the full-time course should have: * A UK undergraduate degree with quantitative analysis and at least intermediate-level study of Economics and/or Finance. * A recognised equivalent qualification from the UK or other countries that fulfil these requirements will also be acceptable. * Have worked or are working in a relevant economics or finance occupation that demonstrates the equivalent knowledge and skills through employment and training. These candidates will be considered on an individual basis and be required to provide a written CV demonstrating that they meet the requirements for admission.English language requirementsApplicants whose first language is not English will need to provide evidence of English language proficiency to the level of IELTS 6.5 (to include a minimum of 6.0 in reading and writing); paper-based TOEFL 560 (to include the Test of Written English (TWE) at 5 or above); or computer-based TOEFL 220.

How do you study?
The modules are taught sequentially with intensive block teaching over the course of a week followed by a period of independent study, including assignment preparation and completion.
A range of teaching and learning methods are used in the intensive block teaching period depending on the module being studied. These methods include large group teaching, small group tutorials, research supervision, interactive teaching, industry-specific workshops (involving guest speakers, project work, etc), eSupported learning, guided and directed individual and group study and a variety of multimedia approaches.
You will also undertake independent and group-based learning outside of the classroom. This will take the form of background reading, research, assignment preparation and assignment completion. Independent learning is guided by individual or group meetings with tutors to enable more personal support and feedback.
Induction
The week-long induction programme at the start of the course introduces you to the staff, outlines the course, and provides you with the opportunity to explore the various available learning and support resources, including the Library, Careers Service, International Office and Student Support Services. In addition, you will be able to engage in management and team building conducted by specialist trainers. For students whose first language is not English, additional English language support will be provided as appropriate during the course to aid your learning.

Special features
Employment skills are crucial for any graduate. Full-time students will be given the option to complete two work-based activities, a short in-company consultancy project and a three-month internship in a relevant work-based role. The internship will enable you to use the specialist knowledge and skills acquired during the programme in a relevant work-based environment. Students will learn to critically reflect on the specialist and generic skills, knowledge and attributes developed and utilised. There is a management and team-building programme facilitated by practitioners as part of the course's induction programme.
