Your studies will reflect your individual requirements. For example, you may want to develop specialist software skills in areas such as: -video post-production -animation -graphics -sound technology -computer programming -web development Where appropriate, you can also select other units from across the rest of the University of Portsmouth to study, giving you the opportunity to develop your skills in areas as diverse as: -art and design -media studies -psychology -business and entrepreneurship -IT -foreign languages

This is a commercial sector that values academic qualifications, yet many working within it may have missed opportunities to develop their academic careers, even though the skills that they are using at work are clearly of graduate level.

Course descriptionThis course will suit you if you are currently working within the creative industries and are looking to develop your academic career by gaining a recognised and respected qualification for the work that you are currently involved in.
The course design provides a great deal of flexibility and incorporates a student-centred approach, with activities based around your own interests and work requirements. Thus offering career development in the workplace whilst supported by the University.
This course is very individual as it will be tailored to suit you and your particular needs. In order to enable you to create your own course, you will undertake a Learning Management unit that will help you to design your study pathway. You will also undertake a significant project, probably based at your place of work.
This programme will take one year of full-time study.
During the course, you will
-analyse current problems and/or new insights, informed by your field of study or area of professional practice
-demonstrate comprehensive understanding of techniques applicable to your own research or advanced scholarship
-show originality demonstrating the application of knowledge, together with a practical understanding of how established techniques of research and enquiry are used to create and interpret knowledge in the discipline
-show an understanding of future trends in your area of study, including an appreciation of entrepreneurship and the changes within creative and cultural industries, in both small and large organisation
