You must have at least three years' relevant experience in your health profession. You must have IELTS level 6.5 with no less than 6 in any sub-unit if English is not your first language.
This programme is for health professionals from overseas who wish to develop new services within their paediatric sub-specialty on return to their home country. International-standard tertiary paediatric sub-specialties include respiratory medicine, paediatric rheumatology, paediatric surgery (day surgery), paediatric gastroenterology and nutrition, endocrinology and bone metabolism. This is the only programme of its kind in the UK.
Content
The programme structure comprises three courses.
Core course
This course provides core skills in critical review, communications, medical ethics, statistics, data handling, research methods and the principles of evidenced-based medicine, good clinical practice and clinical governance, equipping you for your own medical practice and preparing you for the following specialist courses.
Paediatric science and audit
This course is an in-depth review of a relevant area with reference to the primary literature, observation of clinical practice and audit of a paediatric service within your sub-speciality.
Paediatric project and research
A research project or evidence-based service development plan and a related comprehensive literature review in a topic relevant to your sub-specialty or an evidence-based service and business plan for your sub-specialty in your home country.
