ObjectivesThe MSc by Research programme aims to provide a combination of instruction and research opportunities, which ensures a strong grounding in ethnological materials, theory, practice, analysis and presentation. Subjects include oral narrative, song and instrumental music, material culture, social organisation, custom and belief, and place names.

The MSc by Research in Scottish Ethnology enables students with degrees in ethnology or related disciplines to develop research skills and access unique resources in Scots and Gaelic.
How You Will Be Taught
The programme includes research methods, archive and fieldwork training as appropriate, the writing of several pieces of assessed work and a 15,000-word dissertation.
