Entry requirementsEntry Requirements Applicants should have at least a UK 2:1 honours degree, or its equivalent if outside the UK, in chemistry or a closely related discipline.
Academic titleMSc by Research Molecular Synthetic Chemistry
Course descriptionProgramme
This research area encompasses the synthesis and characterisation of organic and inorganic compounds, including those with application in homogeneous catalysis, nanotechnology, coordination chemistry, ligand design and supramolecular chemistry, asymmetric catalysis, heterocyclic chemistry and the development of synthetic methods and strategies leading to the synthesis of biologically important molecules (including drug discovery). The development of innovative synthetic and characterisation methodologies (particularly in structural chemistry) is a key feature, and we specialise in structural chemistry at extremely high pressures.
How You Will Be Taught
The award of the degree is based the successful submission of a Master's level dissertation at the end of a 12-month period of full time research work within one of the research areas listed below. Students will be expected to carry out original research under the supervision of an experienced member of staff.
