  • Objectives The aim of the Advanced Occupational Therapy Masters programme is to develop articulate reflective practitioners, able to meet the demands of dynamic health and social care systems, whilst maintaining their creativity. This programme is delivered by distance education from Plymouth, with an attendance study block in each year. Students who complete the programme gain a wider perspective on effective and efficient service provision. As a student you will reflect on and analyse contemporary issues in health and social care to enable you to contribute to the development, provision and promotion of evidence-based clinical practice. The programme prepares you to conduct research and evaluation at the cutting edge of occupational therapy. This programme aims to link contemporary literature, theory and research with your current knowledge and expertise. You will have the opportunity to study across a wide range of subjects and apply your learning to your specific clinical field.
  • Entry requirements Entry Requirements You will normally require a degree in Occupational Therapy or a diploma in Occupational Therapy and two years professional experience.

    The MSc Advanced Professional Practice in Occupational Therapy can studied part-time over 3 years with exit points at Certificate or Diploma Level, which are as follows;

    Postgraduate Certificate

    -Evidence-Based Practice  20 credits
    -Occupation as a Focus of Contemporary Practice 20 credits 
    -Assessment and Intervention in Occupational Therapy 20 credits

    Postgraduate Diploma

    Core Modules
     
    -Research Methods 20 credits
    -Principles and Practice of Data Analysis 10 credits
    -Research and Project Design (Distance) 10 credits

    Optional Modules. These include

    - Incorporating Health Promotion in Contemporary Practice 20 credits
    - Management of Human Resources in Health and Social Care 20 credits
    - Work Based Learning 20 credits

    Master of Science
