Entry requirementsApplicants should be registered healthcare professionals with an honours degree (2.2 classification or above). If applicants intend to study some clinical modules, it may be necessary to discuss more specific entry requirements with the programme/pathway leader.

Course descriptionMSc Advanced Clinical Practice
There is a demand for practitioners with advanced clinical skills, for example physiotherapists, occupational therapists, diagnostic radiographers and nurses. This course allows practitioners to develop expertise in diverse clinical specialities, thus expanding the roles and responsibilities of non-medical staff in primary, secondary and tertiary care.
Core modules include:
Designing Research Projects (20 credits)
This module will provide you with the necessary knowledge and skills to design and manage relevant quantitative and qualitative research projects.
Dissertation (60 credits)
This module enables you to complete an independent research project. You can discuss areas of interest with an allocated supervisor.
Evidence-based Practice (20 credits)
The evidence-based practice module develops skills in studying at master’s level, enabling you to make the transition to postgraduate study. It also introduces you to the key concept of evidence-based practice within a health and social care setting. Throughout the module you will develop practical skills in searching literature, critically evaluating and managing change. You will be able to focus these skills to your own specialist area of practice within the assignment.
You need to choose an additional 80 credits of study to complete the full master’s course. Modules can be chosen from the general master’s framework.
Course structure
The course combines taught modules in evidence-based practice and research design with a variety of specialist clinical modules. Clinical modules are selected from a range of options available as part of our master's level provision, where you can apply your advanced skills to your own area of practice. You'll also have the opportunity to carry out an independent research study.
