This programme offers a one-year research training which is centred on laboratories in the faculty, including all the biological disciplines in the University.
Content
The programme draws on the research expertise of a large number of staff, principally from the Division of Environmental & Evolutionary Biology, but also staff at other local institutions, such as the University Marine Biological Station, Millport, and allows you the chance to obtain experience in a wide range of modern research techniques.
The programme makes use of the excellent research facilities and expertise in this area of biology available within the faculty, especially in ornithology, fish biology, aquatic ecosystems, theoretical ecology, physiological ecology, and molecular and evolutionary ecology.
The programme is mainly intended to provide a training for students who hope to enter a PhD programme in these areas, and who wish training in transferable skills and in ecological and environmental disciplines. The programme will provide an excellent training for those wishing to enter ecological management or conservation businesses. It should also serve as an excellent introduction to research in the UK for overseas students intending to proceed to a PhD in this country.
