    English language: Minimum grade C in English Language. IELTS - minimum 6.0. TOEFL - minimum 213 (computer-based) or 550 (paper-based) or 80 (internet based).

    A level: AAA-AAB

    Unit grade information: The University of Manchester welcomes the provision of unit grade information which, like all other available information, will inform the consideration of applications. Unit grades will not normally form part of offer conditions, except for Mathematics programmes.

    GCSE: Minimum grade C in English Language.

    Key Skills qualification: The University warmly welcomes applications from students studying the Key Skills qualification. However, as the opportunities to take these modules are not open to all applicants, currently this is not an essential requirement of the University.

    International baccalaureate: 37-33 points overall including minimum of 5-6 points in Mathematics and Physics at Higher level.

  • Course description Course description
    The course combines a comprehensive study of physics with one year of study abroad in Europe. You will get a working knowledge of a European language and a different culture. Language tuition, including some physics tutorials in the language, forms an integral part of the course. Exchanges are supported by the European Union's SOCRATES programme and by the European Physical Society. Most students study at universities in France, Spain, Italy, Germany and Belgium but there are opportunities to study within other European member states.

    Special features
    Students spend their third year abroad at a European university.

    Career opportunities
    This course develops the numerical and analytical skills of the physicist along with the ability to communicate effectively in a scientific and technical environment in a second European language. Graduates will be in a strong position to compete for research positions overseas or for employment with companies with international connections.
