    1 year full time, 2 years part time

    Designed to meet the academic and professional training needs of public health specialists, and tailored to address the dual needs of people also seeking UK professional qualifications in public health.

    It meets the requirements of the Part 1 MFPH examination for membership of the UK Faculty of Public Health and is also designed to meet the needs of public health practitioners from other countries.

    Individual course modules for public health specialists needing top-up training for their Public Health Specialist Voluntary Register portfolio.

    Seven core units:

    -Introduction to Statistics and Critical Appraisal
    -Introduction to Research Methods
    -Epidemiological Research Design
    -Health Promotion
    -Sociology of Health and Illness
    -Needs Assessment, Planning and Evaluation
    -Dissertation

    Eight optional units, including:

    -Health protection
    -Understanding Organisations
    -Promoting Evidence-based Health Care
    -Qualitative Research Design and Analysis

    During normal working hours.
