Course descriptionThe Masters in Renaissance studies is taught by the Scottish Institute of Northern Renaissance Studies (SINRS). Staff come from the universities of Strathclyde, Stirling and Glasgow. The degree is awarded by the universities of Strathclyde and Stirling. SINRS provides breadth of coverage and depth of expertise. The course crosses borders between disciplines. The content draws on recent and innovative research.
All students take two core classes and a class in research skills. Students also choose two options. There is a dissertation on a topic of your choice, guided by expert supervisors. Visiting students come for part or all of the course. You can take credits to your home institution.
The degree introduces the renaissance through core classes. Students can then pursue their own interests through options and the dissertation.
There are two ten week core classes and a fifteen week class in research skills. The core classes introduce you to current issues in renaissance studies in a range of disciplines. The research skills class equips you to research a range of fields inside and outside academia. It also provides expertise specific to this period.
The core classes are:

* Forms, practices and contexts of renaissance cultural production
In the second semester you choose two five-week optional classes. These are taught by individual specialists. The list of options varies from year to year. This is a list of some recent options:
* Alternative Shakespeares
* Renaissance bodies
* Paradigms lost: the other renaissance in Scotland
* Early modern Englishes 1500-1700
