ObjectivesThe aim of the programme is to provide a systematic understanding of the scientific basis of traditional and novel microbiological concepts, and with the knowledge, specialist practical skills and critical awareness to enable graduates to pursue a career in microbiology.
Entry requirementsEntry requirements: The programme is suitable for graduates in microbiology, medical laboratory sciences, medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and other biology degrees with an element of microbiology.

The programme consists of eight compulsory course units:
-General and Introductory Bacteriology
-Antibiotics and Bacterial Genetics
-Molecular Microbiology and Mycology
-Systematic Bacteriology I and II
-General and Molecular Virology
-Diagnostic and Clinical Virology
-Laboratory Management and Research Methods
Masters students will also complete a three-month research project and dissertation.
