Entry requirementsApplicants will normally be managers with at least two years' relevant work experience and have one of the following qualifications: -an honours degree or equivalent -a postgraduate qualification -a relevant professional qualification. However, those without a first degree who have significant appropriate work experience are encouraged to apply.

Course structure
Expect a strategic focus on the major functional areas of business, incorporating an element of choice and flexibility. You will complete an applied research project which leads to the production of your dissertation.

Upon successful completion of the programme, graduates will be guaranteed the offer of Associate Member (ACMI) status or, with three years’ managerial experience, full Member (MCMI) status from the Chartered Management Institute.

One of the main leadership challenges facing organisations is how to develop strategies that reflect changes in the external business environment. This module explores key aspects of the national, European and international environment, including the impact of economic, political, technological, legal, social and environmental factors. You will explore the key concepts, theories, contexts, competencies and techniques involved in strategic decision-making and strategically managing an organisation. You will study selected issues of strategic analysis, strategy formulation, strategic choice and decision-making, leadership and strategy, and strategy implementation. Strategic Management of the Organisation
This module introduces you to the strategic management of business functions – finance, marketing, human resource management and operations. You will look at the interaction and contribution of these functions to the business as a whole, and to its competitive strategy. This module aims to develop your skills in analysis, evaluation and communication.
Strategic Leadership and Organisational Innovation
This module develops your critical understanding of the role of innovation, leadership and change in an organisation. It gives you a learning experience which challenges the norms and conventions that often become culturally engrained in organisations. It encourages you to question the process of decision-making and value creativity in your own organisation. It should also provide you with an intellectual grounding in innovation management, leadership and change.
Current Issues in Management
This module draws on practitioner and academic expertise to introduce, examine and evaluate contemporary management issues. It will give you the opportunity to develop your management knowledge and skills, introducing the concept and principles of continuing professional development.
Business Ethics
Business operates increasingly in a marketplace where ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) are seen as essential consideration. Companies of all sizes increasingly recognise the significance of being switched on to business ethics and CSR.

Dissertation
This module integrates your learning and development as you apply your knowledge and understanding to organisational issues. You will do a major project related to a business issue of significance within an organisation, leading to a written report.
