  • Entry requirements Entry requirements You should have: -An honours degree from a recognised Higher Education institution, or an equivalent academic qualification from an equivalent overseas institution -three years' work experience with managerial responsibilities -If you do not have a first degree, certain professional qualifications, combined with management experience, may be sufficient. Candidates may be interviewed prior to acceptance. If English is not your first language, you will also need to demonstrate your English language proficiency. For example you should have either: -A minimum grade of 6.5 overall on the British Council English Language test (IELTS) -A TOEFL score of at least 600 (written scale) or 250 (computer scale)

  • Course description Becoming a specialist

    We are offering to you this unique opportunity to build on the MBA core and follow a specialist MBA path in Asia Business. Our MBA (Asia Business) will appeal to both home and international students (and this would include Asia Students interested in studying other parts of Asia) who wish to deepen their understanding of ways of doing business and the varieties of management styles in this most dynamic part of the global business environment. This will be helpful for those planning to work in Asia, work with Asian JVs and subsidiaries outside China and also managing multinational corporation staff of Asian Ethic origins.

    You can choose to study for the MBA (Asia Business) as a full-time course or part-time by block release (in blocks of four days) while continuing to work.

    In this way, you build an MBA designed around your career, your organisation and your future.

    You can choose to study for the MBA (Asia Business) by joining either a full-time MBA course or part-time MBA by block release (in blocks of four days) while continuing to work. The programme offers full-time students the flexibility of returning to work after the taught part of the programme and conducting a collaborative dissertation with an organisation.

    Content

    Core modules

    Building on the expertise developed in the six core MBA modules, you will study two electives specialising in Asia Business, write a dissertation based on Asia Business and add additional courses as required. This combination of modules on  MBA (Asia Business) equip you with the MBA level of skills, insight and experience needed to thrive and excel in business:

    -Management in a Complex World (economic, political, technological, sociological and HR perspectives on the changing world of management)
    -Managing Decisions (accounting, quantitative methods and decision-making processes in organisations)
    -Managing Business Resources (integrating financial, human and information resources)
    -Delivering Customer Value (customer and marketing perspectives on the design of service delivery/operations management)
    -Leadership and Change (organisational behaviour, culture, leadership and change management)
    -Strategy (context, content and the process of strategy for delivering sustained performance)
    -South and South East Asia Business (provides insights into a changing nature of management at micro and macro levels in these regions seen as a specific cluster and supports the development of adequate decision making and managerial skills)
    -East Asia Business (provides insights into a changing nature of management at micro and macro levels in a specific cluster consisting of Japan, China and Korea, and supports the development of adequate decision making and managerial skills)
    -Development of Personal Skills

    Personal Development Process (PDP) is an integral part of our MBA programme which aims to encourage and support reflective learning and confidence in setting and achieving personal goals. Extra curricular activities within this process provide you with an opportunity to develop your spiritual intelligence including the ability to deal with complexity in business, cope with stress and inspire others.

    Teaching and learning
    Traditional lectures will only be one part of your course. You'll also learn through syndicate work, group and individual presentations and discussion, student-led seminar groups, analysis and application of case studies as well as experiential learning and simulations including role-plays. Guest speakers from industry and professional bodies also regularly contribute to the MBA programme. These innovative methods create an environment that is enjoyable, varied and hugely effective.

    Assessment
    Assessment is by a mixture of work-based assignments (supervised mini projects), examinations, presentations/vivas and the dissertation
