    Programme

    The MSc Is committed to excellence in European-wide software education and training of engineers to deliver high quality and trustworthy software systems that meet the European industrial needs.

    The MSc in Software Engineering is the first in Europe that conforms to the Bologna declaration which has the UK as one of its signatory. The rationale for the programme is to create a joint graduate curriculum in Software Engineering leading to the MSc degree according to Bologna declaration. The curriculum will be common for all EU nations.

    The complete programme covers three semesters of studies: the taught element is given over the first two semesters whilst the third semester is devoted to the project. The total length of study depends on the mode of delivery: 12 months for Full-time, 36 months for both Part-time and Distance Learning modes.

    There are a total number of eight modules; these are:

    Semester One Modules:

    -Research Methods
    -Advanced Requirements Engineering and Software Architecture
    -Software Testing, Validation and Certification
    -System Integration

    Semester Two Modules:

    -Software Evolution
    -Formal Methods Engineering
    -Software Engineering for Dependable Systems
    -Advanced Topics in Software Engineering

    Semester Three Individual Project:

    -Your Project will be chosen to explore an issue from a wide range of applications such as
    -Electronic purse
    -Electronic Patient Records
    -Personal Insulin Pump Systems
    -London Ambulance System
    -System of Human Resources
    -E-voting system
    -Arion 5 Launcher
    -Flight control system

    Teaching/assessment

    There are provisions for a traditional classroom-based delivery as well as distance learning mode. In addition, for the former, we propose full-time and part-time modes of studies.

    Teaching will include formal lectures, tutorials and labs. Students will also be expected to undertake independent study and research to support their assignments and their dissertation. Assessment will be by various group and individual methods including examinations, projects, presentations, written essays and reports.
