Objectives
The course provides an introduction to the various aspects of consultancy with specific emphasis on IT. You will develop an appreciation of IT systems development and services at corporate, national and international levels, and an understanding of relevant methodologies. An appreciation of the complex human and organisational aspects of working in the IT industry will be gained. In addition, you will develop the research, technical, communication, professional and other skills necessary to be effective in IT or in the research community. The course aims to help you to work effectively either in a freelance capacity or as a team member in the ever-expanding IT arena. It focuses extensively on project matters, including development, communication, management and related issues. At all stages you will be guided and encouraged to gain an understanding of project issues, research methods and IT consultancy opportunities.

Entry requirements
You should have a good Honours degree in an IT or computing-related subject. Applications from those with no first degree but who have previous appropriate experience may also be considered.

Course structure
The course comprises six taught modules and a final application development project:
-Business Information
-Business Operation
-Consultancy Skills
-Multimedia Solutions
-Research and Development Skills
-Researching Products and Trends
The final project is a major individual piece of work for a real client, and consists of the design and development of an IT application, together with associated project documentation.
The project runs from the beginning of July until the end of September but, if desired, may be carried out away from University. The project may be taken in part-time mode over a negotiated period up to 12 months depending on your availability.

Attendance & duration
-Full-time: one year, two days a week (Mon, Tues - 10am to 5pm)
