ObjectivesThe quickening pace of globalisation over the last quarter of a century has transformed the nature of economic relations in terms of the importance of trade and financial flows. National economies are now increasingly interdependent and an understanding of international economic and financial issues is ever more relevant to everyday life, both in business and the wider environment. The central aim of the course is to provide an advanced contemporary grounding in economics with particular emphasis on issues in international economics and finance. You will develop specialist knowledge of international economics and will acquire analytical techniques and research methods essential to undertaking research into current issues in the international financial sphere.
Entry requirementsThe standard requirement is at least a lower second UK Honours degree or equivalent in Economics and/or Mathematics and Statistics. Applicants with substantial relevant professional experience will also be considered. Those without the standard requirements can attend the Graduate Diploma Course in Economics or Finance prior to enrolling on this course.

Assessment
A variety of methods are used including examinations, computer workshops, essays, reports, tests and case study presentations.
Career opportunities
The course will be of interest to graduates seeking careers in international economics and finance in multinationals, import/export companies, in financial markets or banking. Those already employed can update their knowledge and/or improve their careers. In addition, it can lead onto an MPhil or PhD.
