Master Interior Design

  • Objectives This intensive taught course helps design professionals and graduates to deepen skills and experience within the interior design and architectural industries through the support of leading international contemporary designers and academics. The course recognises the new opportunities that 2D and 3D design tools offer designers and aims to reflect contemporary design processes through the use of state-of-the-art digital facilities, model-making and workshop-based fabrication techniques. The course also aims to extend drawing and representation languages to scenarios relevant to commercial interior design. The University's unique location on the edge of the City and the East End provides access to a dynamic and creative community. Our outstanding facilities include CAD and CAM for working in various materials as well as extensive workshops supporting wood, metal, plastics, photography and textiles. The University also offers Metropolitan Works, a unique centre providing new technology for prototyping, manufacture, research and experimentation.
  • Entry requirements Successful applicants normally hold an Honours degree within design and have a relevant design portfolio. Those with relevant professional qualifications and/or extensive professional design experience will also be considered.

    The course includes seven core modules, live project work and design report development. Modules include:

    -Design Targets
    -Visual Communication
    -Exploring Practice
    -Major Project

    Assessment
    You are supported through a 'laboratory' model of learning; developing innovative design, conceptual thinking, professional understanding and aesthetic sensitivity. You present design work and reports for assessment and exhibition throughout the course.
