Course descriptionThrough following this course, you will develop advanced knowledge and understanding of theoretical and empirical issues in criminology, with reference to explanations of criminal behaviour and theories and examples surrounding the control of crime.
You will develop advanced critical skills in research methods and methodology, as well as high-level communication skills and you will enhance your personal and professional development at postgraduate level.

Course content
Students will consider crime and social stratification, the workings of the criminal justice system, motivations and opportunities for crime, representation, discourse and outcomes of dominant and changing definitions of deviance.
You can study this course full-time over one year, or as a part-time course over two years. You may elect to study a Postgraduate Certificate or Diploma, as well as at the MA-level. Part-time study normally requires you to attend the university for the equivalent of one afternoon and one evening per week. Various Continuing Development (CDP) opportunities are available in this area.
