Master Computer-aided Mechanical Engineering

  • Entry requirements For graduate engineers and scientists wishing to learn in depth the theory and use of state-of-the-art computer-aided design and manufacturing methods.
  • Academic title MSc Computer-aided Mechanical Engineering
  • Course description Programme description

    - Accredited by the IMechE, allows students to gain Chartered Engineer status.
    - Research-led individual project supervised by leading experts in their fields.
    - Well-equipped computer rooms and laboratories.

Over the past two decades, computers have revolutionised the practice of mechanical engineering and have become an indispensable tool in all of its key areas. As a result, there is a growing demand for MSc graduates who can integrate computing with the traditional mechanical engineering principles. A distinctive feature of the programme is to equip you with the ability to program in a number of computer languages and use advanced application tools in design, finite element modelling and computational fluid dynamics. The first two semesters consist of eight advanced mechanical engineering subjects.

These include: computational fluid dynamics (CFD); computer-aided design (CAD); computer-aided manufacturing (CAM); dynamical systems and simulation; numerical methods; robotic systems. You will also undertake a substantial research project.
