Objectives
The aims of MA City Regeneration are: -to provide a thorough knowledge of the changes taking place in the social, economic and physical structure of cities -to enable you to critically reflect on theoretical understandings of the dynamics of change of cities -to equip you with knowledge of the regeneration and economic development policy responses to the changes taking place in cities -to enable you to critically appraise regeneration and related policy -to equip you with the skills to work in partnerships and with different communities in regeneration projects -to provide you with the skills to work on developing regeneration projects -to help you to develop and undertake your own research, including planning, carrying out, writing up and disseminating the results of research

Entry requirements
A lower second class Honours degree. Applicants will also be considered who have a relevant professional qualification and/or extensive relevant professional experience.

Course description
Course structure
The course consists of four essential or core modules and a dissertation of 15,000 words.
The core modules include:
-Regeneration and Economic Development Policy
-City Theory
-Community Development
-Researching Cities
Optional modules include (choose two):
-Housing and Regeneration: building houses or building communities
-Cultural and Creative Regeneration
-Project Management
-Health and the City
-Social Structures and Policies
-Sustainable Communities
-Urban Patterns and Spatial Analysis (GIS)
or any other module offered by the University that the Course Director agrees with you as suitable.
Assessment
A range of methods including essays, written reports, critical reviews, examination and project development.
Career opportunities
The course is particularly suited to those who are looking to either move into the broad range of regeneration and related jobs, or who already work within regeneration but who want to progress their careers and further develop their skills in regeneration.
Attendance & duration
Full-time: one year, four modular sessions per week
Part-time (day): two years, two modular sessions per week
