  • Course description  MSc

    The MSc in Business and Accounting provides an education in business organisation and strategy, with particular focus on accounting and finance. Graduates will understand the principles at the heart of business decisions.
    Course content

    In the first semester you will study the compulsory core, which will include:

        * Organisational Theory and Design
        * Business Strategy
        * Introduction to Accounting Concepts
        * Managing Business Operations
        * Principles of International Business Economics.

    In the second semester you will go on to study the specialist subjects of Financial Accounting and Management Accounting, along with another optional subject chosen from a range. Students complete the course with a Critical Literature Review of a chosen topic, for which they are prepared through the study of Research Methodology.

    The subjects of Management Accounting and Financial Accounting are set in the context of business decisions which aim to add value to the enterprise. You will be given plenty of real-life examples of how appropriate application of accounting helps managers to implement, monitor and report the activities which create growth and success.
    Teaching, learning and assessment

    You can expect to be taught in a variety of ways, including lectures, seminars and workshops. The emphasis is on student activity and discussion as a way of understanding key themes. Assessment will be through a combination of assignments and examinations, and will be continuous throughout the course.
