This very practical course will develop your understanding of the different products, materials and application processes used within the performance, film, theatre and television industry. It is ideal if you are interested in exploring professional make-Up and want to find out what it is all about. You will learn how to research and create make-up designs; work with different face shapes and develop application techniques, such as highlighting and shading, concealing and blending make-up. Course participants will work on each other.
You will be introduced to special make-up effects including basic prosthetics and accurate casualty make-up. Taught in our state of the art make-up studios by Sophie Monro who is a professional member of the ‘Make-Up for Media and Performance’ team at the Arts University, this course will give you the opportunity to work in a realistic, comfortable and professional working environment.
What you need to bringYour own set of professional make-up brushes and brush cleaner. Facial tissues and baby wipes/face wipes (e.g. Tesco or Wilkinsons), mascara, liquid eye liner, cotton buds. Please contact the Short Course Office for further details on equipment. Students are welcome to bring a camera to record their own work during the course.
