ObjectivesThis MA is only available via web-based distance learning. This course draws on the expertise of staff in both the literary and linguistic areas of the School. After an introduction to the key ideas in describing modern English, you then go on to choose from a wide range of optional modules. Central to these is the study of the different varieties of English spoken and written around the world. You can choose to study the language, culture and literatures of the Pacific Rim, the Atlantic triangle, or both, and combine your study with courses in literary linguistics, discourse analysis, and a range of literary modules. You could also give your studies a pedagogic dimension by exploring the teaching implications of your work.
