Programme content
Taught modules include:

and a choice of modules from Documentary: History and Forms, Ecology & Environment, and Animal Behaviour.
You will make a short wildlife film through research, script writing and production, and white a self assessment of your film as the dissertation.
The programme is delivered through lectures, team-based projects, and case studies. Visiting external professionals with links to the television industry will contribute to the teaching in master classes. There is an extensive programme of field trips, including individual and group projects to a range of different habitats. Students will work on a range of specialist techniques including long-lens and time-lapse photography, macro-photography and high-speed alongside close-up sound recording. Wildlife specific post-production techniques will also be covered.
Assessment
Assessment includes assignment and project work, examinations and the production and self-evaluation of a short wildlife film.
Career progression
This programme is ideal for those wishing to pursue careers in all aspects of wildlife documentary production, including directing, producing, script-writing, photography, sound recording and editing.
Entry Requirements
An honours degree or equivalent in a media-related discipline, biology, zoology, botany, physical geography, environmental science, psychology or a related subject. This usually means a minimum of an upper second class degree or equivalent. However, people with relevant experience but not having the above formal entry requirements can be considered for accreditation of prior learning or experience.
We welcome international students with a level of proficiency in English of IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 550 (213 computer-based, 80 internet-based) or higher.
