MA-Postgraduate Diploma Professional Studies in Counselling and Psychotherapy
ObjectivesNormally an honours degree (2.2 or above) or equivalent and/or substantial training in counselling or psychotherapy of not less than 400 hours; substantial experience working as a counsellor or therapist; and successful completion of the University of Leicester’s Postgraduate Certificate in Professional Studies (Supervision) or (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).
Entry requirementsTo provide a professional development programme in counselling, psychotherapy and related topics, for experienced and qualified professionals who seek to enhance their practice and qualifications through further study. To provide counselling and psychotherapy practitioners with the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills as therapists. To develop the skills and expertise as researchers with the ability to critically appraise and evaluate their own work and that of others.
Academic titleMA/Postgraduate Diploma Professional Studies in Counselling and Psychotherapy
Each module is assessed by either an essay, project, taped session/transcript/process commentary or case study, and a reflective learning journal, or a research proposal. The dissertation will be an original study of 15,000-20,000 words.
