ObjectivesTo gain a detailed knowledge of the major issues related to the study of the country house and of the literature on the subject, and to develop an understanding of the complex and changing position of the country house in its local, regional and national environment.

Teaching and assessment methods
The course is taught by a combination of seminars, lectures and field trips. The modules are assessed by two essays of 2,500 words each or by one essay of 5,000 words. There will also be a dissertation of either 20,000 or 30,000 words.
