Assessment
Module performance is assessed by a combination of coursework and formal examination. In addition, MA students are required to submit a 12,000-word dissertation. Personal supervision is provided in support of writing the dissertation.

Students follow a range of careers in teaching and research, the civil service, the armed forces, international organisations, non-governmental organisations, and the media. Some pursue further study at doctoral level. Students develop a wide range of skills on the programme (writing skills, communication and presentation skills, analytical skills) that are transferable to a variety of career
