  • Course description There has never been a more exciting and challenging time to begin a career in journalism.

    This course equips you to work in mainstream journalism producing newspapers and magazines and out in the field.

    We designed it to introduce you to many areas of journalism but also to focus on editing and producing news in organisations.

    The main areas of study are • researching • newsgathering • copywriting • editing • the production process • layout and design.

    You learn the range of skills you need to become a successful journalist, including
    • interviewing techniques
    • news and feature writing
    • understanding the importance of careful research
    • production skills

    We have excellent links with regional and national newspapers, and the major broadcasting organisations, including the BBC and ITV.

    We also work closely with the Press Association, the premier newsgathering agency in the UK, where international broadcast journalists learn radio and television techniques.

    You have access to these organisations during your studies and can take advantage of placement opportunities.

    As part of your development, you meet and work with professionals working in the industry at regional and national level.
