    The normal entry requirement is a degree or a certificate in education and some relevant professional experience. Exceptions can be made for non-graduates who can demonstrate relevant professional experience.

  • Course description This course is for graduates working as • lecturers • tutors • managers • administrators • advisors in post-compulsory education.

    It enables you to engage critically with educational ideas, theories, research evidence and latest developments in the PCET sector.

    You gain a deeper and broader understanding of PCET, and apply your learning to your own professional context. You develop ideas, strategies and materials to use in your own practice, and engage in work-based projects.

    Course content

    Postgraduate certificate and diploma
    To gain a postgraduate certificate you normally study two modules from • learners and learning in the PCET sector: implications for practice • innovation in PCET (includes e-learning) • policy and practices in PCET contexts • work-based learning project

    To gain a postgraduate diploma you normally study four modules. This is normally
    • research methodologies in education plus one module from the list above or
    • two modules from the list above

    MA
    To gain an MA you need the postgraduate diploma and then submit a dissertation or take PCET extended project module.

    As the course is part of the Professional Development Programme in Education, there are also opportunities to access modules from other areas of the programme.
