Objectives
The MA in Marketing aims to develop in students the knowledge and skills needed to perform as a Marketing practitioner. In this way, the career prospects of its graduates will be enhanced. The programme has been designed to enable participants to apply theoretical concepts to practical Marketing issues and problems. In recognition of the changing needs of business, the programme offers a flexible range of options which reflect emergent trends.

Entry requirements
Applications are invited from graduates of any recognised UK, European, American or overseas university or from persons possessing a degree equivalent professional qualification. Applications are also invited from non-graduates who can demonstrate substantial experience in marketing and who it is felt would benefit from the programme.

Course description
Programme Structure
The programme is structured in two sequential stages. The Stage One
and Stage Two each contain four core modules illustrated below. The MA
stage comprises the dissertation.

- Consumer Buyer Behaviour and Decision Making
- Integrated Marketing Communications
- Relationship Marketing
- International Marketing Management
- Strategic Marketing and Analysis
- Research Methods and Planning

Stage Two

Work Placement
Students without relevant work experience have the opportunity to gain
real world marketing expertise via a placement with a relevant
organisation.
External Recognition
The programme has been running part time since 1994 and has grown in
reputation. It is recognised as a valid and reliable programme by the
industry’s professional body, the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM).
This recognition allows students from LJMU to enter the final stage of
the diploma level and bypass the previous levels. Consequently students
will do four modules at diploma level.
