  • Objectives This Masters programme covers a wide range of industry perspectives, so will appeal to those students who are currently working or want to work in either the public or private sector. It also has extra value for international students as we will provide sensitive and supportive approaches to development of individuals as leaders and we have a good understanding of international culture. The programme uses the richness of cultural diversity to enable you to grasp the important issues around globalisation
  • Entry requirements You will normally need a degree or equivalent in any subject. Experienced managers may not need a degree - please contact us for further information. International students will need IELTS score of 6 in every category.

  • Course description Programme of study
    Throughout the programme, there is a strong emphasis on developing your potential for leadership thinking and skills. You will also develop your understanding of what is involved in leading and managing an organisation and the resources and people within and around it.

    Modules
    Leadership Development Groups are ongoing throughout the whole programme. You will:
    -develop your personal leadership skills and leadership thinking
    -learn by exploring international cultures
    -poduce a personal reflective diary/learning log on skills development.

    Module 1: Strategic Leadership, Culture and Ethics covers:

    -strategic thinking and strategic leadership
    -effective leadership
    -empowerment and motivation
    -organisational ethics
    -understanding and changing organisational culture

    Module 2: Leading Organisational Development investigates:

    -leading organisational change
    -innovation - systems and processes
    -effective teams, coaching and mentoring
    -organisational learning

    Module 3: Managing the Business Environment explores:

    -human resource management
    -financial resource management
    -marketing
    -international resource management
    -stakeholder management

    Module 4: Managing Business Integration (Project)
    This group project allows you to carry out a business consultancy project using problem-based learning techniques and action learning.

    Module 5: Research Methods and Dissertation
    Your final module is a dissertation, the title of which will be discussed and agreed with course tutors.

    Assessment
    Assessment is through essays, presentations, individual projects and group projects and reflective journals. Examinations are not part of the assessment process.
