Objectives
On this stimulating programme you will develop skills in research and writing as well as engaging with contemporary debates around the news and media industries. At the same time, you will have the opportunity to complete the National Council for the Training of Journalists professional qualifications required to work as a journalist in the UK.

Entry requirements
Each applicant is evaluated on an individual basis and their level of achievement, experience and appropriateness for the degree properly assessed. Applicants should normally have a first or 2.1 in a recognised undergraduate programme.

MA Journalism
This MA is designed for graduates of disciplines such as social sciences and humanities who wish to pursue a career in journalism.
Course structure
You will study modules in news writing, shorthand, news production, media law, government and the contemporary news industry, before undertaking a major journalism project in a subject area of your choice. In the course of the programme, you will have the opportunity to compile a substantial portfolio of published work, working closely with our partner organisation, the Evening Gazette (part of the Trinity Mirror Group).
