MA International Childhood Studies

  • Objectives To provide transferable skills and knowledge that will enable you to engage effectively and critically with the international political, cultural and social processes through which childhood is constructed. To provide you with an up-to-date and critical understanding of the epistemologies, theories and processes through which such processes can be understood. To enable you to critically reflect upon and analyse social policies and practices relating to children in the context of their rights under international law and conventions. To ensure you have a thorough grounding in research methods in order to enable you to critically evaluate research outputs and methodologies in the field of childhood studies, and to design and undertake high quality research of your own.
  • Entry requirements Entry requirements A good honours degree in a relevant subject (2:1 or above preferred) and/or relevant professional experience and qualifications. If in doubt, please contact the department to discuss. If you do not meet our standard entry requirements, please visit the website of the Sheffield International College (SIC), which offers fast-track pathway programmes to the University of Sheffield A relevant language qualification for students whose first language is not English (eg. IELTS 6.5 or above; TOEFL 575 or above, plus a score of 4.5 in the Test of Written English, or minimum 232 in the computer-based TOEFL).
